Highbridge LibDem Councillor in shock resignation
Cllr Danny Titcombe defected to the Conservatives just two weeks ago
Cllr Danny Titcombe defected to the Conservatives just two weeks ago

HIGHBRIDGE Town councillor Chris Williams will quit the LibDems to become an independent from next week, the Weekly News has learnt.

Cllr Williams, a member of the LibDems for 15 years, said he was "sorry" to be going, but felt he could serve the people of Highbridge just as well as an independent councillor.

He told the Weekly News: "I can confirm I will be becoming an independent councillor.

He said: "I am still a LibDem at heart and am not going to another party, but I feel the local branch of the LibDems have lost impetus and do not appear to be going anywhere."

The shock departure comes as the second in two weeks for the LibDems, who were hit with the resignation of Cllr Danny Titcombe just two weeks ago.

Where does this leave the LibDems? Leave your comments in our forums and pick up your copy of the Weekly News next week for the full reaction to the decision.
