PARENTS have been called to collect children from a Wedmore school after a fire broke out today (January 23).
Hugh Sexey Middle School, in Blackford, has announced it is closed due to the fire, which broke out in an electical cabinet around 10.20am.
No one was injured but the school's website asked parents to collect their children from the loop ASAP access along the back lanes due to a road being closed.
The school has no electricity and phones are not working.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service attended the fire, with two fire appliances from Cheddar mobilised.
A spokesman said: “On arrival fire crews confirmed fire in the roof space.
“An additional four appliances from Burnham and Wells were mobilised along with Command Support vehicle from Street.
“Crews are currently at work stripping roof tiles to gain access to roof space and one appliance is still at the scene."
