FIRE crews from Burnham and Bridgwater were called to rescue a shire horse stuck in a rhyne last Thursday.
A fire engine and an animal rescue team from Bridgwater arrived at Animal Farm in Berrow just after midday.
Crews arrived to find the two-tonne horse which was stuck in a ditch, up to its neck in water.
The teams managed to free the horse by using an off-road vehicle, straps and lines.
A vet was then called to assess the health of the animal.
