BOMB disposal experts were called to a property in Burnham earlier this week following the discovery of two World War One shells.

The projectiles were found on Tuesday morning at an unoccupied property in Lynton Road, Burnham as it was being cleared out ready to go to auction.

It was initially uncertain as to whether the explosives were still live and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team (EOD) were called as a precaution.

On inspection the EOD team discovered that the shells did in fact present a danger to the public and were removed from the property. The 100-year-old shells were then taken to Brean Beach where a controlled explosion was carried out.
