Somerset residents urged to have electric blankets tested
AS the cold weather sets in Somerset residents are urged to have their electric blankets checked.
Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service is providing free electric blanket testing across the county to help residents prepare for the winter.
People can take their blankets to these fire stations on the following mornings to have them checked: Taunton – Monday, December 9; Burnham – Wednesday, December 10, and Minehead – Thursday, December 11.
Last winter there were 74 fires involving electric blankets across the UK, leading to three deaths and 35 non-fatal injuries.
