HAVING a second job while representing the people as a Member of Parliament is “not acceptable”, according to the Burnham MP Tessa Munt.
She made her comments in the wake of two formerforeign secretaries being suspended from their parties on Monday for allegedly offering their services to a private firm for cash.
Speaking to the Weekly News about the ensuing argument about whether MPs should be able to have a ‘job on the side’, Tessa Munt said: “I absolutely disagree with MPs having a second job.
“I think to be an MP it is not acceptable to rock up and say to the people you represent ‘I’m going to do this three days a week’ for example.
“For me this is a full-time, seven days a week job and I love it.
“I would never have a second job while I am an MP and I don’t think MPs should be able to have a job other than the one they were elected to do.”
