THE leader of Sedgemoor District Council was among speakers at the ‘Westminster Energy, Environment and Transport Forum’.
Cllr Duncan McGinty addressed around 250 delegates from both the public and private sectors who had attended the seminar on March 3.
Cllr McGinty completed a keynote presentation which showcased Sedgemoor’s near-unique position in relation to Nuclear New Build.
Attendees were briefed on the overview and scale of the Hinkley Point C project which is roughly equivalent to the scale of the construction of the 2012 Olympic Park.
Delegates were also briefed on Sedgemoor’s experience in terms of community engagement and how best to engage with and support the local supply chain.
The presentation highlighted the two key elements of supply chain management: Employment and Training and Supply Chain, that Sedgemoor District Council are working on, alongside partners, to ensure companies in Sedgemoor (and the wider county area of Somerset) can secure as much additional business directly from HPC as possible.
