TWO Burnham teenagers aiming to travel to the Philippines to help in a disaster relief project have so far raised £3,000 towards their target.

Tom Creswick and James Whitrow have been tirelessly raising funds to pay for their trip so they can lend a hand to the recovery effort in the South Asian country following two catastrophic typhoons.

The 16-year-olds have been out and about taking part in numerous fundraising activities including a car wash in North Petherton on Saturday, which raised £380.

They now need £1,600, and with the events coming up, are confident of hitting their £4,600 target.

The boys will be washing more cars at simply fresh petrol station, in Lower Weare, on Saturday, April 18, from 9am-1pm and will charge £5 per car.

They will also hold a raffle with prizes including a painting by a professional artist, a £25 Scott’s furniture voucher, two tickets for a show at the Princess Theatre and a £30 voucher for Pynes the butchers.

Raffle tickets are sold at CJ hole estate agents in Burnham’s High street or through facebook at www.facebook.com/tomandjamesdisasterrelief2015 while anyone wishing to donate directly can do so at www.gofundme.com/disasterrelief2015
