RESIDENTS at Beaufort House residential care home in Burnham had a Royal visit from HRH The Duke of Gloucester recently.

The Duke, who is a first cousin of the Queen, had an opportunity to tour the grounds and enjoyed chatting to residents during his visit last Thursday.

The majority of residents at Beaufort House come from farming backgrounds.

It is owned and run by the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI), a grant-making charity which helps farmers and farm workers of all ages, giving out around £2million each year.

Also visiting the care home with the Duke of Gloucester were the Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, Annie Maw, the High Sheriff of Somerset, the Hon Mrs James Nelson, and the chief executive of Sedgemoor District Council, Kerry Rickards.

RABI chairman Chris Riddle said: “It was a real pleasure to have His Royal Highness, who is the president of our charity, with us at Beaufort House.

“This was his first visit here and his interest in RABI is very much appreciated.”
