THE judges for this month’s Great Burnham Bake Off have been announced.

Rosemary Jackson, from sponsors Retreat Caravan Park, Bini Ludlow, who will also be appearing as a demo chef at 1pm, and the Rev.

Sharon Eldergill will all be on the panel who will be casting a critical eye over the entries at the event later this month.

The competition, which is being held as part of this year’s Burnham Food and Drink Festival, will see the judges having to choose from the best bakes submitted by professional and amateur bakers.

However, festival director Sarah Milner Simonds told the Weekly News that being a judge is not as easy as it may at first appear.

“Some think that judging the Bake Off is a dream job,” she said.

“But I know that the feedback from past judges has been that it is a taller order than it first appears.

“This time judges will be sampling and debating over Victoria sandwiches, lemon drizzle cake, loaves of bread, tea-time cakes and wedding cakes.”

The Great Burnham Bake Off is free to enter and all bakes must be at Somerset Skills & Learning by 2pm on Saturday, May 23 with a fully completed application form.
