BURNHAM’S young starlet Gracie Wickens-Sweet celebrated getting through to the live shows on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent at the weekend and is counting on the support of her fellow girl guides to make it through to the final.

The 11-year-old singer was once again given the thumbs up from the panel of judges to see her progress into the semi-finals on Saturday.

Gracie, who has been a member of 1st Brent Knoll Guides since her tenth birthday and was a Brownie and Rainbow before that said: “I’m so excited to be going through to the live shows on Britain’s Got Talent. My friends at Guides have been with me the whole way through, and I’m happy that they’ll all be behind me during the live shows.”

The 35 Guides, aged 10-14, are rallying round to support Gracie into the next stages of the competition and have decided to spread the word and tell their friends and family, and support Gracie each week she is on the show.

After the competition is finished they will plan a Britain’s Got Talent-themed Guide meeting.

Gracie’s friend and fellow Guide Alice said: “At Guides we help each other and come together whenever someone needs our support. We’re super proud of Gracie and we’ll be supporting her by spreading the word to make sure more people hear her amazing voice.”

Jane Sinnott, leader with 1st Brent Knoll Guides, added: “The Guides are all so excited about seeing their friend on Britain’s Got Talent. They want to do everything they can to support her because they’ve heard her sing and they think she has an amazing voice. I hope she’ll get far.”

Gracie received four ‘yes’ votes from BGT judges in the first round after a rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow and will now join the remaining 40 contestants in the semi-finals this week.
