A TRAINEE teacher from Burnham has hosted a ‘Miss England’ charity ball, raising over £4,000 for Variety, the Children’s Charity and the Beauty with a Purpose campaign.

Emily Sanders, 22, organised the ball at Rookery Manor on Friday, May 15. There was also a special appearance by some film characters thanks to Bristol and North Somerset Mascots. Nick Tolley gave his time to photograph the event and has kindly donated a percentage of profits from them to Variety, the Children’s Charity.

Other local businesses supported the cause by donating raffle and auction prizes on the night. Emily said: “I would like to thank ‘Rob, the Boilerman,’ PTS solutions, Batch Country House Farm and Wall Eden Farm as the main sponsors of the event. FresHair, N-Hance, Haircraft, Peter Jones, Unique Beauty also donated vouchers and gifts to the event.

The Ritz Cinema, Chandni, La Vela, Animal Farm, Exeter Chiefs Rugby, Somerset County Cricket Club, West Croft Farm and Brean Leisure donated to our main auction, raising over £1,500.

“I have been overwhelmed with the generous local support from those who attended the event and local businesses, it really does show the charitable, community spirit of our local area. I would like to thank everyone involved.”
