THE family of popular Burnham man Paul Plume who lost his life to cancer last year are set to leap from a plane in his memory.

Paul, who created a trail of 32 lighthouses to illuminate the town, died in December 2014 at the age of 48.

Despite suffering from lung and bowl cancer, he continued to work on his lighthouse vision whilst undergoing chemotherapy, and now his family want to raise money in his memory.

Paul’s wife Sally and their two sons Alex and Lewis are jumping 15,000ft out of a plane at Dunkerswell Airfield on Wednesday 29 July in aid of for St Margaret’s Hospice who cared for Paul in his illness.

They will be joined by Scott Woodberry, Kirsty Brown, Sophie Darwish, Claire Taylor and Sue Taylor.

Scott, a close friend of Paul’s, recently donated £8,000 to the hospice in memory of Paul from a Lighthouse Trail Fundraiser.

Community fundraiser Julie Draper said: “This is such a brave thing to do – everyone at St Margaret’s is wishing you well in your forthcoming challenge event.”

Paul was a well loved figure in the town, working for more than 30 years as a foreman at Woodberry and Haines furniture suppliers in Highbridge, a company owned by Scott’s father, Chris.
