SPECTATORS didn’t let the weather rain on their parade at the annual Burnham Picnic in the Park.

The event, which has been running for 19 years, took place on Sunday July 12 at the Manor Gardens.

Visitors stayed cheerful, even though the rain kept coming down, and were treated to an afternoon of musical entertainment, refreshments, a bouncy castle, a bar and burgers to keep body and soul together and a raffle.

Performing at the free afternoon – and getting the crowd up on their feet and dancing – was an array of talent including Six Machine and their eclectic mix of funk, rock, pop, dance and disco, Maya, Daft Folk (who’ll be back for the Burnham Folk Fest in September), Rootabaga, Hazel Lloyd and Odds To End.

Mike Murphy from Burnham and Highbridge Cultural Arts Development Society branded the event a success with great local music, even despite the weather.
