A RIDE in a rescue hovercraft and plenty of fun on the sand was on offer for pupils from a Burnham school thanks to beach safety visit with Burnham Area Rescue Boat Search & Rescue.

St Andrews School had an invite for 80 students to attend the town’s rescue hovercraft charity seafront station on Friday, July 4.

The students had a to learn about the work they do and see the equipment used to save lives and keep people safe.

During the beach safety awareness day, talks were given, as well as a training exercise demonstration with the rescue hovercrafts on Burnham beach.

A BARB spokesman said: “BARB organises many visits and talks through the year to promote local beach safety.

“The pupils really enjoyed their visit and found it very worthwhile.”
