IN need of something to do this bank holiday? Secret World has the answer.

The animal rescue centre is holding a nature's hunters open weekend where visitors can learn all about foxes, owls and Britain's other iconic wildlife.

The event is open from 10am until 4pm on August 29, 30 and 31.

Five rescued foxes who take up residence at the Highbridge centre will be on hand to meet people, after becoming to tame to be released into the wild but needed to be rehomed.

The group includes Megan and April, two vixens who had sadly been kept as pets and came to Secret World when their owners could not look after them any more.

The resident foxes are special cases, as Secret World’s aim is to release rescued animals back into the wild whenever possible.

The team have rescued over thirty orphaned fox cubs this year.

Learning Assistant Ceri Cambridge said: "At our facts and tracks stall you can examine a real life fox skull, find out what they like to eat in the wild – those teeth are a big clue! – and learn about the hunting abilities of these amazing animals.

"At our family crafts table you can make origami foxes and wildlife badges.

"Did you know that foxes are actually quite social animals and use around thirty different calls to communicate?

"At Secret World this weekend you can make your own family of origami foxes to take away with you!”

"The activities are part of Secret World’s wider mission to engage and inspire people through their learning programme, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund".

Entry to the nature's hunters weekend is free, however all donations are welcome.

The centre is also urgently in need of wet food such as tins and pouches of dog, cat and kitten food to feed hungry foxes, badgers and hedgehogs.
