A BURNHAM-ON-SEA café has been nominated for the Best Café in Somerset in the prestigious Muddy Stilettos awards.

Calm, an organic coffee bar on High Street, aims to promote healthy food, wellbeing and feeling good.

There are only six days left of voting for the competition, where the Burnham business is pitted against coffee heavyweights from across Somerset.

Owner Tiffany Louise Lin said: “My passion has always been organic food, I want to feed people good quality food and help make them feel good.

“We were nominated last month, which was suprising because we have only been open for ten months.

“We are now we are down to the last five, and we really need the support of Burnham.

“We are up against a few other places from bigger cities like Bristol and Bath, so it would be great for Burnham-On-Sea if we win this award.”

Customers have travelled from as far away as far and wide to visit the coffee bar, which features a reading room with library, laptop charging points and USB docking stations.

The shop holds yoga and pilates classes upstairs, which helps promote a healthy wellbeing, and it also caters for many dietary requirements such as vegetarians and vegans.

Having been recognised by the Sustainable Restaurant Association, the shop aims to be as environmentally friendly as possible by using reusable cups and LED lights.

Ms Louise Lin added: “It has been quite difficult to establish our place in Burnham-On-Sea, and I did take a big risk in setting the business up.

“I want to make people aware that you can eat well, and feel good, and it’s not expensive.”
