BRIGHT Green Future, an exciting new environmental programme for teenagers in the South West, is looking for young people to take part.

The programme is aiming to inspire the next generation of environmental decision-makers, and help young people gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to embark on a career path in the industry.

Those aged 14-17 with an interest in the environment and climate change can apply now to take part in the two year programme starting in September 2016.

A spokeperson for the programme said: “We are hoping to help get young people interested and inspired to carve a path in the environmental industry.

“The programme will fun and interesting, and people taking part will hopefully gain more knowledge and more confidence that their actions can make a difference.

The lottery funded project is a unique opportunity to learn about sustainability and environmental decision making.

As well as receiving training and attending work placements and a summer school, participants will take part in hands-on activities that'll really benefit their own local community, like running an eco-day and energy auditing.

“People taking part will receive help from us to do a project in their local area, and they will also do a work placement at an organisation who work to help the environment.”

Participants will do the activities alongside their normal school or college work, with Bright Green Futures ideally looking for 15 and 16 year-olds to take part in the free two year course.

They will be paired up with a mentor from the Bright Green Future team to help them along the way and ensure they are getting the most out of the programme.

Applications are now open to take part in Bright Green Future from September 2016.
