POKEMON Go fever has swept into Burnham-On-Sea, and it can only be good news for the town's businesses with more people out and about playing the new smartphone game.

Pokemon Go was launched in the UK yesterday, and is an augmented reality game that sees users wandering around the streets in search of intriguing creatures of all shapes and sizes called Pokemon.

This can only be a good thing for local businesses, who are looking to make the most out of the hundreds of gamers out and about in the town centre.

The Royal Clarence Hotel has set up a ‘Pokestop’, where Pokemon Go'ers can show the app to receive special deals on drinks.

Their Facebook page read: “If you haven't already downloaded Pokemon Go to your phones, the chances are that you will, just to see what the fuss is all about.

“When you do, pop along to The Courtyard Bar at The Royal Clarence Hotel, show us the App and get a bottle of Budweiser for just £2.00.”

Also, ‘Pokemon eat free’ at the Railway Inn on College Street.

On their Facebook they posted: “With the official release of Pokemon Go this week we can safely say we are a prime spot for your Pokestops and your Gym's!

“So why not head down and gather all your supplies you need to be the very best this summer, here at The Railway Inn!

“Worried about internet access? Well here you can sign up to The Cloud for free!

“Whilst doing so why not have a drink from our range of soft and alcoholic drinks or take advantage of our cider festival which starts on the 18th.

“Not only that, but we are hosting a Pokemon Colouring competition and the winner will recieve their drawing printed on a t-shirt!”
