BERROW Primary School is currently celebrating after it received an outstanding rating.

The school on Rugosa Drive has received the rating in its National Society Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools Report.

The school was rated as outstanding in all three categories - Church Distinctiveness and Effectiveness as a Church of England School, The Impact of Collective Worship, and The Effectiveness of Leadership and Management of the School as a Church School.

Headteacher Lee Chandler said: “I’m so pleased that the school got the judgement it deserves – this is an excellent school, with very caring and committed children, staff, parents and governors and I am very proud to be the Head of such a school.

The report highlights the ‘outstanding leadership, typified by the inspirational Christian servant leadership of the new headteacher who is driving whole school improvement’.

It also state that: “The whole school community is unified by a single Christian vision and collective responsibility to improve the life chances of every individual child.

“All stakeholders share a sense of passion and determination which unites them all and is driving forward the school as a Christian community.

“Children are developing into confident, thoughtful young people with an understanding of and respect for diverse communities and who display tremendous skill in reflective and philosophical thinking.”
