BURNHAM Railway Heritage Group welcomed the chairman of Sedgemoor District Council to the newly renamed Old Station Approach to thank the council for their help with recent railway related developments in Burnham.

The railway group met the chairman to acknowledge the financial contribution the council has made to the projects and the council presented a cheque for £1,250 to the group.

Last Thursday, councillor Ian Dyer met Roger Miller, secretary of the Burnham Railway Heritage Group, in the newly renamed Old Station Approach by the station sign erected where the former excursion platform was.

Paul Hambleton, from Burnham-On-Sea Railway Heritage Group, said: “The grant from SDC has been a significant element in the success of the Heritage Group in moving the project forward.

“This initiative came about through the installation of the terminal buffers last year and is expected to be followed soon by other memorabilia for the interest of local people and visitors to the town.”

The Burnham and District Model Railway Club has also commissioned a limited edition of 142 private owner wagons to support the project.

If you are interested in purchasing one of the wagons, they are available for £12.50 from Dave Bysouth, 26 Blackmoor Road, Taunton.
