EMERGENCY services from across the South West packed out Burnham-on-Sea's Esplanade for the town's annual rescue services day.

The event took place on Sunday alongside Burnham's first ever Rainbow Run, with more than 250 people raising £2,000 for the various services.

Thousands of people descended on The Esplanade to find out more as the various organisations gave demonstrations, teaching all about how they work and what more can be done to prevent the emergency services needing to be called.

There were more than 30 emergency services in attendance with vehicles on display including hovercrafts, lifeboats, ambulances, fire engines and more.

Burnham on Sea RNLI, BARB Search and Rescue, HMS Coastguard, South Western Ambulance Service Trust, Avon and Somerset Police and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue all had crew there help out and inform on the day.

BARB Search and Rescue also used the event to mark its new lifeboat - The Spirit of Lelaina II, which replaces its predecessor after 14 years of service.

Meanwhile 260 people took part in the first ever Rainbow Run in Burnham, creating a positive and vibrant atmosphere and raising more than £2,000 for charity.
