A FIRE which caused widespread damage at Weston St Johns Football Club is being treated as an arson attack, police have confirmed.
The fire broke out around 6.25pm on Monday at the club on Coleridge Road in Weston-Super-Mare and took until the following day for crews to extinguish.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said they would like to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious activity prior to the incident via 101, quoting 5216181384.
PC Chris Lintern said “It’s extremely fortunate that no-one was in the football club or else the fire could have had fatal consequences.
“If anyone saw or heard anything suspicious in or around the Coleridge Road area around the time of the fire, or if anyone knows who may have been responsible, please call us as soon as possible.”
