MORE than 200 runners took part in the Burnham-on-Sea Half Marathon this weekend.

The competitors set off from the BASC sports ground at 11am on Sunday on a lovely sunny morning for running.

First over the line was Yeovil's Richard Bateson who completed the course in 1:14:50, with Kieran Rodney of Weston just seven seconds behind finishing as the runner up, ahead of third place Tim Hawkins from Wells who came home in 1:17:08.

Matt Powell of Burnham Harriers, the club which organised the event, was the first local runner, finishing the race in 1:32:59.

The route took the runners along Love Lane, before heading along the A38 towards Brent Knoll, round past East Brent and Lympsham, before heading back to the BASC Sports Ground.

There was also a fun run which saw 20 youngsters taking part in a run around the BASC ground.
