BUSINESSES from Sedgemoor and the surrounding areas are invited to an Economic Development Conference hosted by Sedgemoor District Council  next month.

Representatives from the Department for International Trade, EDF Energy, Santander, China Britain Business Council and Bristol Airport are among the speakers at the council’s eighth annual conference alongside local exporters.

Last year, more than 160 delegates attended the conference and were joined by the then Minister of State at the Department of Energy and Climate Change, Andrea Leadsom.

A spokesperson for Sedgemoor District Council said the conference was a great opportunity to bring together the district’s business community to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the coming months and years.

“Sedgemoor is well advanced in its preparations for the construction of the new power station at Hinkley Point C and for playing its part in hosting the supply chain and wider support services. We will continue to maintain our pro-business ethos in managing nuclear and non-nuclear business enquiries and investment proposals.”

“We hope as many local businesses as possible can attend the event this year to learn about the scope for exporting and business growth in Sedgemoor.”

The event will be on November 3.
