THE countdown is on as Burnham-on-Sea Christmas lights are due to be switched on tomorrow.

The lights will be switched on at 6pm outside the Victoria hotel in Burnham by ITV West Country weatherman Bob Crampton.

The event has been organised by the Burnham-on-Sea Chamber of Trade & Commerce and will be jam packed full of entertainment from local schools to stalls with delicious snacks. 

There will be performances on stage from Lisa Jane School of Dance at 3.05pm, the Mudlarks at 3.30pm and St Andrews School Choir at 3.55pm.

Father Christmas makes an early visit at 4.20pm before performances continue from Brent Knoll school choir at 4.40pm, Coastline Singers at 5.05pm followed by St Joseph's school choir at 5.30pm

The lights will be switched on at 6pm followed by a final performance from Burnham on Song at 6.05pm.

As well as restaurants, pubs and the Ritz Cinema open as usual, a number of Town Centre shops and cafes will be staying open late so shoppers can pick up some early presents.

There will be refreshments, stalls, emergency services and fun fair attractions including the Toyset Carousel and Crazy Castle throughout the whole afternoon. 

Victoria Street from Regent Street to Vicarage Street and a small section of Princess Street will be closed to all traffic from midday until 7pm on the day.
