FANCY a tipple this Christmas?

Burnham-on-Sea Wine Club will be hosting a party to celebrate the Christmas period.

The event at Avenue Tennis Club, will feature food from Burnham producers as well as delicious wines from all over the world.

The party on December 16 comes as Burnham Wine Club returned this year to bring the party spirit into the town and educate those wanting to learn more about wine, especially those seeking an informal and informative introduction to wine tasting.

It is the club’s second event since they announced their return in November and aims to help visitors fill up their wine racks with a delicious tipple just in time for Christmas.

Burnham Wine Club organiser Sarah Milner Simonds is Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) trained and so has a broad knowledge of wine and wine tasting.

The club hosted a wine tasting earlier in the month where visitors took part in a two and half-hour tasting session will allow participants to taste eight wines, accompanied by some local bread and cheeses.

Organiser Sarah Milner-Simonds said: “We are hosting this party because we know that if you are self-employed the Christmas party season can be a quiet time of year and maybe you need an excuse to put on a party hat.

“Some people have told us that they really want to throw a party at home but don’t want to tidy up.

“Whatever your reason this party is a great solution if you are looking for great wine and atmosphere.

“We will be welcoming our guests with a celebratory drink and serving edible treats from Eat: Burnham-on-Sea producers.

“Wines, beers, lagers and superlative gin and tonics by the glass from £3 from our 2016 tastings on sale throughout the evening.”

There are no membership costs for the club but tickets for the party are £10.

Special offers are available for groups.

The wine club team will also be offering gift vouchers for their 2017 tastings which include sparkling wine in January and a gin tasting in March.
