BURNHAM-on-Sea MP James Heappey has praised the Prime Minister for her progress in negotiating a deal for the UK following the country' decision to leave the EU.

The MP was full of praise for Prime Minister, Theresa May and said he felt her speech set out clear plans for the UK's future relationship with Europe.

"I feel the Prime Minister's speech set out a really clear plan for Brexit.

"I liked her ambition for what the UK can achieve in the negotiations and beyond.

"I liked her defiance on the ridiculous possibility that the EU might seek a punitive deal.

"The ball is back in the EU's court.

"I suspect it will come back with a little more willingness for constructive engagement now the PM has set out such a clear vision for a global Britain whether the EU wants to do a deal or not."

The Prime Minister spoke today at London's Lancaster House and said the final Brexit vote will be voted for by Parliament and the UK will not remain in the single market once the UK has left the EU.
