SMALL businesses can get help improving their digital offering when a new workshop comes to Highbridge later this month.

Do It Digital, an independent, not-for-profit campaign, will be hosting a workshop in the town to help small businesses that want to increase their level of digital and online activity.

Michelle Ovens MBE, Do It Digital director, said: “These free workshops will positively promote the benefits of digital engagement for small businesses, from having a simple web presence to taking the first steps towards selling online, and how they can help themselves.

“Digital engagement is crucial for all aspects of business, from marketing and recruitment to banking and accounting, and is only likely to become more so.

“Digital engagement will become increasingly central to the development of competitive, profitable and growing businesses.”

Julie Hawker, joint CEO of Cosmic, a social enterprise delivering ICT services and digital inclusion projects for businesses, social enterprises, individuals and communities, will be delivering the session.

She will look at apps and cloud solutions, explore the latest website trends, look at cyber security and how to prevent or limit an attack and examine the rise of Instagram and Pinterest in 2017.

The workshop will be held at Highbridge Enterprise Centre on February 22 and is one of a series over the next few months in which experts will be giving talks and leading workshops around the country that will be open to existing and aspiring small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Do It Digital says each session will be informal and participation is encouraged and that at the end of each talk there will be a Q&A session so that any questions are answered.

Each event will also be streamed live online and will include a live Twitter Q&A to allow for digital participation for those who cannot make the talks in person.
