IT'S just a few days until Weston Hospicecare's first ever Bubble Rush event and to celebrate the Burnham-on-Sea welcome sign got a little makeover.

Members of the charity's fundraising team and Burnham's Mayor, Cllr Bill Hancock and Mayoress Frances Hancock posed in front of the newly decorated sign, welcoming visitors to Bubble-on-Sea.

Kelsey Dehaney, events coordinator at Weston Hospicecare said: "We’re really pleased to host an event in Burnham-on-Sea, as our clinical team does a lot of work to support dozens of patients and even more family members in the area.

"We hope lots of people will come out to support the hospice by taking part and raising sponsorship with the Bubble Rush."

The event, which will take place on August 5, will see hundreds of residents walk, run or toddle through four different coloured Bubble Stations with all proceeds from the event going to Weston Hospicecare.

To raise more awareness of the event, the team at Weston Hospicecare approached Burnham and Highbridge Town Council with the idea of changing the name on the sign and the Mayor was happy to get involved.

Cllr Bill Hancock, mayor of Burnham-on-Sea said: "From personal experience, I know how important the care and support that hospices provide is.

"The work that the hospice does is marvellous, and we’re pleased to support their efforts however we can."

Although online registrations for the event have now closed, those interested in coming along to the Bubble Rush are encouraged to call 01934 423 960 to sign up.

Alternatively, there will be spots available for those who wish to sign up on the day.
