BREAN Theme Park is hoping to reopen one of its most popular rides this weekend, it is understood.
The theme park was one of five across the UK to close the 'Afterburner' ride on July 28 as a precaution after an 18-year-old man died on a similar ride in Ohio, America.
Tyler Jarrell,18, died and seven people were injured when a swinging and spinning ride called the Fire Ball broke apart at the Ohio State Fair on July 26.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said five rides were re-inspected and temporarily taken out of use after the incident and a sixth ride at Lightwater Valley in North Yorkshire was immediately taken out of use by the operator independently of the HSE.
Tony Grimes, district councillor for Berrow and Brean said: "I am sure that Brean Theme Park have taken all of the necessary steps to ensure that the ride is safe for the public."
Brean Theme Park has been contacted for comment.
