FIREFIGHTERS rescued a bullock from the river Brue near Wedmore last night.
The special rescue team from Bridgwater joined Burnham firefighters at Tealham Moor Drove in Wedmore shortly before 7pm yesterday evening (Tuesday, August 22).
On arrival, crews met with the farmer and discussed the best way to rescue the animal from the water.
The special rescue team crew entered the water, and used lines to take control of the bullock's head to assist it back towards the riverbank edge to enable the farmer and the rest of the crew to remove it from the water.
The bullock was then brought back onto land using the farmer's tractor by lifting using lines.
The animal was unharmed and duty of care was left with the farmer.
