TWO Burnham-on-Sea ladies have raised more than £800 for a cancer charity by hosting a coffee morning.

Sue Colman and Ann Stone invited residents to enjoy home-baked cakes, biscuits and tea at Sue’s home on Churchill Close on October 3 to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.

The pair raised £829,20 for the charity which Sue says is close to her heart.

“Both Ann and I have had relatives who have died or suffered from cancer,” Sue said.

“It is a big problem nowadays and it is a disease which impacts a lot of people’s lives.”

Sue said the event was a huge success with hoards of residents donating raffle prizes and cakes.

“We raised £720 last year so to beat that target this year was wonderful,” Sue added.

“We have held coffee mornings for the last few years and we will continue to do so.”
