CROWDS of people turned out to show their support for breast cancer as a Somerset charity hosted their seventh Christmas shopping event.

Berrow Village Hall was filled to the brim with residents on November 19 as more than 25 stall holders spread festive cheer selling handmade jewellery, cards, sweets and chocolates.

Holly Clare Macbeth, chairman of Somerset Breast Cancer Now and co-organiser of the event, said: "We had another brilliant shop for a cure for Christmas event and raised £704.16.

"There was an amazing turn out once again, everyone had a fantastic time."

Sedgemoor FM showed up to support the charity and a magician was on hand to entertain visitors with a magic show.

Holly said the charity hopes to host another event next year in the hope that the charity can reach their £1 million target.

"We want to say a huge thank you to all our stallholders, performers, Sedgemoor FM and to everyone who came out to support us.

"We wouldn't be able to host events like these without you or raise money for our fantastic charity.

"There are lots of ideas buzzing around for next year so watch this space.

"We would also like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated prizes cakes and displayed posters for the event, none of this would be possible without your help."

The charity has been busy fundraising all year and will be celebrating their 20th anniversary by hosting a charity ball at The Batch Country House Hotel in December.

"This will be our ninth ball and it is a special year for us as it is 20 years since my parents started the group.

"The CEO of Somerset Breast Cancer Now will be attending so its a very important night for us.

"We are all really looking forward to celebrating a brilliant year of fundraising," Holly said.
