THIS Christmas lights display is a scene that would bring joyful smile to any child's face but sadly Alfie Watts will never be able to see them sparkle.

Bereaved parents, Matt and Leanne Marie Watts put on the festive show to pay tribute to Alfie, who they lost after he was born in 2016.

Matt and his father, Kevin, put on a charity Christmas lights display at Kevin's house in Watchfield every year but Leanne said this year is special.

After Alfie died, the couple started fundraising and decided that all the money collected from this year's event will go to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and The Rowan Baby Bereavement Suite at Musgrove Park Hospital to help other families who have suffered the loss of a child.

Leanne said staff at the hospital were 'absolutely amazing' after Alfie's death and hosted a naming ceremony for their son.

"In August 2016 we unfortunately had to use the Rowan Suite to deliver and say goodbye to our little boy Alfie," Leanne said.

"During our stay at the Rowan Suite we were given a keepsake box with various items which included bracelets, a teddy, a hat and a blanket for Alfie and the midwives also did his footprints so we could put them in our box.

"The staff were just absolutely amazing and the aftercare was great too."

The couple switched on the lights on December 2 and Leanne said she hopes the display will raise as much money as possible for the two charities.

"There was such a lovely festive atmosphere at the switch-on with the Mark Choir singing carols, a snow machine and visit from Father Christmas with homemade sausage rolls and mince pies with mulled wine.

"Last year we gave all the donations from our summer fun day that we had in our garden as they were a great support to us

"The Baby Bereavement midwife, Keiley Tuck, works so hard for the suite and we just wanted to give something back as a thank you."
