A BURNHAM artist is warning against the dangers of e-mail scams after receiving various suspicious messages.
Roy Wallis told the Weekly News how he managed to avoid a potential hoax recently when advertising his car for sale through a website.
"A man emailed me saying he wanted to buy my car for more than the price advertised," Mr Wallis said.
"This sent alarm bells ringing, he claimed it was because he owed his partner money and if he paid a couple of thousand extra I would pay back the difference.
"I sought advice, and was told the transaction would be cancelled just after I would have handed over the money - I would have lost the lot."
The concerned Burnham man then contacted motoring expert, Honest John, at the Daily Telegraph, and explained his concerns.
