THOUSANDS of caravanners can now enjoy a free annual membership to Weston-super-Mare's Grand Pier thanks to being members of a Brean caravan club.

Members of Brean Seasonal Caravaners Club (BSC) are being offered the chance to get free admission to the iconic attraction all year round as well as 10 per cent off food, drink and at retail outlets at The Grand Pier.

The new membership deal was struck by Martin Mills, who runs BSC.

Martin contacted Weston Pier at the beginning of the year after seeing it was a popular attraction with his members.

“I contacted the Pier at the beginning of the year as I was promoting the launch of our new website, and I wanted to expand members’ opportunities and experiences," Martin said.

“The pier was an obvious choice because of its popularity and location, and the pier team have gone out of their way to provide everything we need to facilitate this offer, we really couldn’t ask for more."

The caravan club was set up for seasonal pitch holders in Brean, Berrow and Burnham-on-Sea in 2015 and started with just three members.

Now it has nearly 5,000 members and Martin said there was a 'wave of excitement' when they announced the Grand Pier Membership.

“The Grand Pier Membership was the very first offer we announced to our members in conjunction with our new Member Card scheme, and caused a wave of excitement that I just couldn’t predict," Martin said.

“I am certain that the pier’s generosity has made a fundamental contribution to the success of the BSC Member Card scheme to date.

“The pier is a popular choice with young families, couples and those of the older generation, which fits our demographic exactly, and I have a feeling BSC members will be spending a great deal of time on the pier.”

BSC member, Sharon Freeman, from Herefordshire was the first person to take up the free membership offer and enjoyed a hot chocolate in Tiffany's restaurant.

Tim Moyle, general manager of the Grand Pier, said they are pleased to be involved in the scheme.

“We were only too happy to support BSC and provide something which will encourage its members to return to the pier again and again during their breaks to the region this season," Tim said.

“BSC’s ethos surrounds inclusion for all and that reflects what we’re trying to provide too, a fun destination with something for everyone, whatever the weather.”
