BURNHAM and Highbridge's Twinning Association celebrated its 30-year anniversary last week by presenting a trophy to founder Mike Mansfield.
Mike helped launch the group - which now has more than 60 members - in 1978.
Over 30 years, the group has formed strong links with the south of France, where it is twinned with Cassis and Louvigné-du-Desert.
Members have formed close links with the French communities, regularly crossing the Channel for meetings with the town's representatives.
Last Sunday the group went to Caerphilly Castle for its annual outing and came back to Laburnum House - where members presented a glass bowl to Mike.
Albert Laurence, the twinning association's transport manager, said: “It was 30 years since he started the twinning association and turned it into what it is today.
“We expressed our thanks to Mike for his 30 years of service and I would also like to thank all the members who contributed towards the trophy.”
The glass bowl, with a plaque on the front, praised Mike for his continued hard work as the group's chairman.
Mike told the Weekly News: “I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and, much to my surprise, they presented me with a rose bowl.
“I did not know what to say - it was quite emotional.
“I have really enjoyed my 30 years, it has been hard work but really good fun.”
