ST JOHN'S School in Highbridge is staying open today despite a member of staff being struck down with suspected swine flu.
In a letter sent out to parents, head teacher Clare Nurse says a member of staff is believed to have contracted the bug.
She says the staff member, who has not been named, is recieving treatment and recovering well.
Mrs Nurse said the school will remain open as normal.
She added: "We can confirm that a member of staff has suspected Swine Flu.
"Following guidance from the Somerset Health Protection Unit and NHS Somerset the school will remain open and letters are being issued to all parents to inform them of the situation.
"Staff at the school are familiar with the symptoms associated with Swine Flu and continue to be vigilant.”
A spokesman for the Somerset Health Protection Team said all schools in the area are currently receiving advice on how to deal with swine flu.
