BRENT Knoll Primary School held a church service at St Michael's Church to mark the start of its 150th anniversary celebrations.
Past and present pupils joined staff and governors, as well as friends of the school, to enjoy a service from Rev Simon Lewis and contributions from pupils.
Former head teachers Shirley Endall, Brian Jones and Ellis Davies were among the visitors, and Sedgemoor District Councillors Alan Ham and Bob Filmer attended the service.
IT technician Karen Polly created slideshows of old and current images from the school's history and Pauline Dodds presented a framed certificate on behalf of the Bishop and the Diocese of Bath and Wells.
Head teacher Karen Davidson said: “It was great to see so much support for this event.
“We will be holding a 150th tea party on June 17 and photographs and old logbooks will be available for people to look at.
“We hope that lots of past staff members and pupils will be able to attend.”
