A MOTHER from Brent Knoll with a debilitating condition has set up a support group aimed at helping others with the same illness.

Liz Mills, 44, was diagnosed with fibromyalgia last year and suffers from pain all over her body and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

The qualified counsellor and married mum of five now hopes to share her experience and exchange information with other sufferers.

Liz, who lives at Station Road, said: “I have suffered with the impact of fibromalgia and CFS and would like to share with others information I have learnt along the way.”

Liz, who cares for her husband who has terminal cancer, became ill after returning home from a holiday in the Dominican Republic six years ago.

She said: “I was very poorly and I was ill for six months, even a year later.

“I just didn’t know what was wrong with me.

“It started with food poisoning and I had diarrhea on and off.

“Then my joints swelled up and I had no energy to look after my children, my home and I couldn’t go to work or do anything.

“Finally knowing what was wrong with me was great but then I had to learn to believe it, understanding I had good and bad days.”

To date a total of 20 people have signed up to join the group, which will officially launch at 2pm on May 23.

Liz plans to start the group from her home and then find a bigger venue if it expands.
