A GROUP of motorcyclists have raised about £5,000 for charity with a trip from Lands End to John O’Groats.

Organisers John and Sandy Scott, from Berrow, took Gus the Rottweiler with them on their trip in aid of The Forces Children’s Trust and The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

The 15 friends, from around the country, stopped off at The National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, Staffordshire, to lay a wreath for fallen soldiers during their 1,000-mile trip over three days.

Sandy said: “The trip was very wet and windy and it was quite a challenge. We were glad to stop but we had a wonderful time and it was definitely worth it.

“Gus went on his first motorbike ride at the age of six weeks and he absolutely loved it. He turned an awful lot of heads during our trip, with many people taking pictures – he was definitely the star and main fundraiser!”

John added: “It was absolutely brilliant and we wouldn’t have missed it for anything. Gus enjoyed travelling in the ‘Gus bus’.”

The money is still being counted and will be split between the two charities.
