AN INSPIRATIONAL King Alfred School student is set to have his long locks chopped off later this week to help children suffering from cancer.
Ross Burland, 15, has not had a haircut since October 2013 but will now be sponsored to cut it off to help the Little Princess Trust, which provides real-hair wigs to children across the UK who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.
The charity provides wigs, which cost £350 to construct, free of charge to boys and girls.
Ross’s hair will be cut on Sunday at Burnham’s Beaux Cheveux hair salon to raise hundreds for the charity.
Ross said: “The reason I am choosing the Little Princess Trust is more my mum’s idea really.
“I last had a haircut in October 2013 – I never seemed to get round to getting it cut.
“One evening my mum suggested that if I decided to have it cut it might be worth looking into donation. We looked into this and I was just really keen to do it.”
Head teacher Denise Hurr said: “It is inspiring to see Ross thinking of helping others in such a simple act of having his hair cut.
We are very proud of him.” To sponsor Ross visit mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/rossburlandfundraiser
