A VERY special tractor set off from Sedgemoor on Monday morning on the final route of the Energy Now Expo tractor drive.

The tractor run is raising money for Forage Aid and marking a year since the Somerset Levels flooding that devastated so many farms.

The drive has already smashed the £10,000 target set for Forage Aid fundraising and expects to push past the £20,000 mark this week.

Forage Aid’s emergency response initiative delivers animal feed to farmers in times of need.

James Winslade, who was affected by the floods last year, and is behind some of the Forage Aid efforts, started the drive off from Sedgemoor Auction Centre and travelled along the A38 towards Bristol.

The convoy continued up the A38 to Gloucester, past Almondsbury, Berkeley and Haresfield and will continue to push north before reaching its final destination at the Energy Now Expo in Telford.

Energy Now Expo director, and the brains behind the fundraising drive, David Jacobmeyer told the Weekly News: “From the moment I met the guys at Forage Aid, they were just inspirational.

“The money raised by the drive will go into a pot and can be dished out as emergency funds to farmers when they are hit by flooding or snow for example.”
