TWO Sedgemoor parks have once again been recognised as amongst the best in the UK as part of the Green Flag Award scheme.
Marine Cove Gardens, on Burnham-on-Sea’s Esplanade, received its fourth Green Flag Award in as many years whilst Apex Park in Highbridge was awarded it for the ninth year in a row.
As a measure of its exceptional achievement, Apex Park was given its highest ever score.
This year’s flags were raised at both parks last week during the annual national Love Parks Week.
The award, handed out by charity Keep Britain Tidy, recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country.
Councillor Ian Dyer, Chairman of Sedgemoor District Council, said: “It is with thanks to Sedgemoor’s Parks, Clean Surroundings and Dog Warden staff, as well as the incredible support from the Friends of Marine Cove Gardens and Friends of Apex Park Improvements Group, that both parks are in tip-top condition for their wide range of visitors.”
