EAGLE-EYED visitors to Apex Park in Highbridge may have noticed some changes to the flower beds at the front of the park along Marine Drive.

A wildflower seeding event was held on Thursday,October 15 with the Friends of Apex Park and Sedgemoor District Council’s Ecologist.

The event saw the seeding of the two flower beds with native flower seeds such as the rare arable ‘weeds’.

The Friends of Apex Park, with advice and support from Sedgemoor’s Ecologist, will now take over the management of the beds which will be looking their best again soon.

They felt that the change from a formal floral bedding display to wildflowers was more in keeping with Apex as a wildlife park and area that acts as a haven for local flora and fauna.

Those interested in the park and its wildlife can still enjoy the free Apex Park Wildlife Adventure Walk. Guide leaflets are available in the park by the interpretation board to the right of the lake slipway.
