Governing bodies are an integral part of school leadership, setting the ethos of the school, driving continuous improvement, supporting, challenging and holding to account the Headteacher and other members of the school leadership team by negotiating stretching targets for improvements in standards and monitoring progress towards them.

Governors work in partnership with school staff to shape the future of the school, to decide the key issues and ensure that the policies are in place that will help staff to raise standards and nurture a safe, caring environment in which students can achieve their full potential. The Governing Body also determines how the school will best spend its money to achieve these aims.

If you are interested in joining our Governing Body, please apply in writing, covering no more than one side of A4, stating your reasons for wishing to become a governor. Please also complete and return the skills statement giving your specific areas of knowledge/experience. The application and skills statement can be found on www.kingalfred.somerset.sch.uk under Job Vacancies, along with the list of conditions that would prohibit you from becoming a school governor.
