THERE is still time to get your nominations in for special young people in Somerset.

The Pride of Somerset Youth Awards is in its 10th year highlighting the achievements of impressive young people in the area who are nominated for the award.

The event is run by the the Rotary Club of Taunton and is supported by the County Gazette and BBC Somerset.

County Gazette editor, Paul Jones, is one of the judges for the awards, and encouraged people to nominate inspiring youngsters.

He said: “Every day we hear amazing stories of young people who rise above adversity to do something for others, and the Pride of Somerset Awards is a brilliant way to recognise them.

“We have legions of inspirational youngsters in Somerset, and the awards have been celebrating them for the past 10 years, and we are hoping to have a bumper year of nominations for this landmark date.”

The awards are not split into categories – we want to hear about young people who have shown extra spirit to do something exceptional. It could be for achievement in sport and music or caring for others and the environment.

Nominees must be under the age of 20 on March 11, 2017, and they must live in Somerset.

Send the nominee’s full name, age, school/college – where appropriate– postal address, contact phone number(s) and a maximum of 200 words on their achievements to newsdesk@countygazette.co.uk putting the words Youth Awards in the subject heading – and do not forget to include your own name and contact details.
