A HEARTFELT service took place in Highbridge on Friday (January 27) to commemorate World Holocaust Day.
Cllr Michael Clarke, Mayor for Burnham-on-Sea and the chairman of Sedgemoor District Council lay wreaths at the statue of Frank Foley on Market Street to pay tribute to those who lost their lives as a result of the holocaust.
The ceremony took place at St John's Church in Highbridge and was organised by Highbridge War Memorial Trust and conducted by members of the Highhbridge clergy.
Frank Foley was Highbridge born and was employed as a passport control officer in Berlin from 1920 until 1939.
He took a great risk and helped hundreds of Jews escape after World War Two began.
