BURNHAM and Highbridge Choral Society was in great voice for its Spring Concert at St John’s Church in Highbridge.

The popular annual show on Saturday, featured a celebration of music from across Europe.

The choir sang music from European composers including Brahms, Verdi, and even ABBA songwriters Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus.
The group was also joined by a orchestral ensemble along with tenor soloist Rhodri Prys Jones.

The Welsh tenor has recently graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with a first class degree and has been tutored by renowned tenor, Adrian Thompson.

A spokesman for the Burnham and Highbridge Choral Society, said: “Our Spring Concert on Saturday night was a great success.
“We began with Italy and Verdi’s Va pensirero from Nabucco. We then travelled to France for Faure’s Cantique de Jean Racine. Germany was our next stop with Brahms’ Geistliches Lied, before heading over to Sweden for a fun ABBA medley.

“Following the break we landed back in England and successfully negotiated our way through Britten’s the St Nicolas Cantata.
“Our talented MD Nicholas Bromilow had once again brought out the best in us. We were aided by an inspiring tenor soloist and an small, but beautifully formed, orchestral ensemble.”

The choir will be holding a summer sing along at the Methodist Church Hall in College Street, Burnham for four Thursdays beginning on May 18.
